Dear Parents & Dancers,

We are beginning to receive our costumes in the mail, and for the next couple of weeks we will be passing them out in class. Please have your dancer try their costume on and make sure it fits.
Some of the costume catalogs that we order from do not have in-between sizes. If your costume is a little bit big, this is because your dancer was in between two sizes & we had to order the larger size. The costume should fit however, so if your costume needs alterations please let me know.
Please make sure that you do not have your dancer play around in their costume. We cannot order another costume if something happens to theirs, and we cannot replace pieces to a costume.
Some costumes will be arriving the first week in December, so if your dancer hasn't received theirs, don't panic!
I hope everyone is enjoying learning their dances, and hopefully you are memorizing and practicing them at home. Please remember to bring in a video camera if that helps.
Thank you all for your cooperation with watch days & parking. It has helped a ton with the traffic flow, and we really appreciate it.
Just a reminder that it is dark outside when your dancers are finished with class, so please do not have them walk outside to meet you, please come into the studio to pick them up.
Our recital it set for December 16th 2011 at Mountain View High School. We are planning on doing individual and class pictures at the recital and are currently working with our photographer on organizing that. When we get a solid plan for that day I will let you know times and when your dancers’ class should be arriving.
I am currently looking for parent volunteers to help out at the recital. I will need a parent to sit with each class and also a parent to run their dancer’s class backstage. We will be doing things a little differently this year, and we will need as many parents to help as we can. We will also be holding a parent meeting the week before the recital to make sure we are all on the same page. All parents who volunteer will get free admission, so sign up!:)
We will be recording a DVD of the recital and will be taking orders for that. If you are interested in purchasing a DVD please email or call me and I will include it on next month’s tuition. DVD’s are $10.00 each, and will include the entire recital. Please do not include the DVD on your tuition, please contact me first or we will not know that you ordered.
We will be having class on Monday the 21st, the week of Thanksgiving in Kuna only. We will not be having class in Meridian that week. If you are out of town that is fine, just make sure your dancer practices!:)

Dear Parents,

I posted some new things on the website/blog, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone received the message about dance on Halloween next Monday. We WILL be having classes that day, except for the two hip hop classes that are later that night.

6:15 - 7:00 7-12yr. Beg/Intermediate Hip Hop
7:15 - 8:00 7:15 Hip Hop beginning/Intermediate

If your dancer is in either of these classes, please do NOT bring them to class on Monday. Everyone else, yes there is class on Halloween:)

This should not interfere with your tuition as there are 5 classes in the month of October. Enjoy your holiday and be safe!

I hope everyone is loving dance and having such a great time learning and perfecting their routines for the recital. Next month I will be having signups for volunteers to help with the recital. We will be holding a meeting for all volunteers before the recital to make sure we are all on the same page. Just a heads up if you volunteer you will get free admission!

The recital will take place at MountainView High school on Overland on Friday, December 16th. I will post recital times etc as we get closer to that date. We will be taking pictures at the recital as well.

In other news, we have a new little addition to Tip Tap Toes Dance! Miss Kami had her baby boy Easton on October 14th. Although we are super tired these days, we sure love him and we are doing great!

Dear Parents,

It has been brought to my attention through numerous emails and conversations that the parking/waiting room is a bit of a crowded mess. I have sent numerous emails and posted signs about parking and parents watching, but I feel now that the first month is over and dancers are used to the way class is run as are parents, we are going to have to enforce our policies to make our studio a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

Beginning next week parents are to park ONLY on the right side of the studio down the long grassy area. If we see cars parked across the street, even just to drop a student off, we will have to ask you to move. I understand that the parking area has gotten crowded, but it is mostly because parents are either coming too early and parking while other classes are leaving, causing traffic, or because parents are staying and watching on days that they should not be watching, or sitting in their parked cars waiting.

Parent watch week is the first class of the month. We allow parents to come watch in the dance waiting room, NOT in the studio, and we also ask that they do NOT bring their other children, even to wait outside. It has been brought to my attention that some parents can’t stay and watch on watch week because parents are bringing other children/babies and taking up all the seats in the waiting area. It has also been brought to my attention that children have been opening and slamming the backdoor, which not only disrupts the class, but has made the studio/waiting room hot as our AC can’t work properly with doors open. Please be considerate of others and do not bring your children, they will have a chance to see their siblings perform at the recital.

I had mentioned in previous emails that dancers will begin to learn their routines for the recital. If you would like to bring a video camera to videotape the dance, we prefer you do it after class. Instructors are still putting together choreography and cutting their music, so I would suggest waiting until the next parent watch day the first week in November. This will allow your dancer time to learn the first part of their dance, get used to the music, and still have a month to practice.

I understand that parents have been sitting and waiting for dancers in their cars. Please be aware that this also causes traffic and we would ask that you either drive to a nearby park to wait or someplace other than the front.

Now that we are into October, we will be running the heater. It will be important to remember to keep doors closed.

It is already getting darker earlier outside. For the safety of your dancers, please do NOT have them walk outside to meet you after class. It will be your job to come in and pick up your dancer. And please remember to pick up your dancer on-time. Our instructors teach classes back to back and will not be able to sit and wait with your dancer.

Lastly, arriving 5 minutes early is plenty of time for your dancer to get their shoes on and come into class. We have had parents arriving 15-20 minutes early and sometimes dancers are left unattended or dancing in the dance room before the instructor has even arrived. Dancers use the first 10 minutes of class and in between classes to gather their thoughts and go over their lesson plans for the day. This makes it difficult to watch kids for 10-15 minutes before class even begins. Please arrive on timeJ

All of the information regarding parents staying and watching/parking/drop off and pick up are in the dance policies packet that you signed the first week of class. If you have any questions you may refer back to that packet. If any of these rules are a problem for you, please let me know as soon as possible.

We have set these rules for your dancers’ safety and also to make this experience wonderful for you. We ask that next week you abide by these rules and hopefully this can clear up some of the concerns that you’ve had. If at all there is a problem or a concern of yours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Recital & Costumes!

We have a recital date set for Friday December 16th, 2011 at Mountain View High School! Start telling family and friends ahead of time so they can plan to be there!

I am in the process of ordering costumes. This is a tough season to order because they tend to arrive right before the recital! We have done our best to measure each child accurately, and order them the best costume size. Some catalogs do not offer in-between sizes so sometimes this makes it difficult when a child is between 2 sizes. We tend to order the size up as we would rather have it too big than too small. If your child's costume arrives and needs alterations please let me konw asap!
Here is a list of the costumes that will be ordered for your dancer. Some costume sites do not allow me to copy their pictures so you must click on the link to view the costume. Costumes should arrive by the first week in December unless it's on backorder. I try my best to get them ordered asap to have them here, but it can be tough! Please understand & be patient.

If you prefer to put a nude colored leotard under your costume for modest reasons, you will need to purchase that on your own. Please do not put a t-shirt under your costume as this takes away from the costume & looks different than the class.

Your dancers' teacher will begin to teach choreography for the December recital. Please make sure your dancer does not miss classes, as we only have a few weeks to learn these routines. It is a good idea to bring a video camera to record your dancers dance at either the beginning or end of class. Please make sure they are practicing!:)

Hello Parents & Dancers,

We are going on our third week of dance, and I must say things have been running smoothly! I hope your dancer is starting to get the hang of things, and are enjoying coming to dance! Our instructors will begin to teach your dancers their routine for our December performance. Just a heads up on the recital date, we are still in negotiations with the schools, and have hoping to pick a place/date this week! I will let you know asap when we have that set date. (The schools get the first pick on dates, which leaves us with not a lot of choices, we are trying to shoot for the second week in December to allow costumes to arrive and students to have enough practice time. We are having to look at different school auditoriums this year because of the date situation)

We will be measuring students for costumes this week in Meridian and on Monday in Kuna. We will be placing costume orders on Monday night in order to get them here by December.(crossing our fingers)
In order for your dancer to recieve a costume, your $50.00 registration must be paid by their class this week. If this has not been paid dancers will not be performing in the recital, we cannot place orders after Monday.

Tuition for September should be all in. There are still a few of you who have not paid their tuition. Dancers will not be able to dance during class this week if this is not paid. Please do so online.

Please make sure your dancer is wearing proper dance attire to class, and also bringing a waterbottle. Those little mouths get thirsty and we want them to be able to have a drink!

Parking- Most of you have done a wonderful job parking along the studio side of the street. There are still a few of you parking across the street. We want to be kind to our neighbors and not cause traffic jams, or have it be unsafe for our dancers to cross the street. Please Please remember to park ONLY on the studio side of the street. Thank so much!

The first week of dance I tried to meet as many of you as I could. If I happened to miss any of you, please know that although I am not teaching this go around, I will be doing the behind the scenes stuff and if you ever have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask. I want this to be a great experience for BOTH you and your dancer.

Kuna Dance Begins TODAY!!

Those of you registered for our Fall season of dance, classes will begin TODAY September 12th, 2011!

Please be sure to bring your shoes (if you've already purchased them) dance bag and water bottle. Dancers should arrive in dance attire (please scroll down to dress code for more info) and of course a big dancers' smile!

Parents please remember to enter the studio on the left side of the house.
We recommend parents come for the first class, bring their cameras & videocameras as well, but we ask to have parents not stay for the following classes each month as this can be distracting and also cause traffic jams as classes begin and end.

Miss Morgan will be teaching today and fill free to ask her any questions you may have. She will also be passing out waiver forms.

Please remember that tuition is due on the 1st day of the month. Anything past the 10th will result in a late fee of $5.00 per week late added to your account.

Fall 2011 Dance Registration Information

Parents & Dancers,
It’s that time again! It’s time to register for our Fall 2011 season of dance! We are so excited for this season, and we are making plans and setting goals to have this Fall be an awesome experience for both you and your dancer. We are excited to announce that we have added many NEW classes to our Meridian schedule this year. Please make sure you take a look at all our different classes we offer and please contact me with any questions on placement for your dancer in any of our classes.
We have put up BOTH schedules for Meridian & Kuna Fall 2011 on our website: tiptaptoesdance.com. Please take a look at these schedules to make arrangments for this coming Fall. If you are unable to register for a certain class/time because it does not work with your schedule, you may view our classes from our other studio to see if that would be a better fit. (With the Ten-Mile overpass now open, it is about 12 minutes from one studio to the other)
Registration- We have decided to put up our schedules this July, but we will NOT be opening our registration for our classes until August 1st. So please check out the schedules & see if they will work for you. I will send out a reminder E-mail when it’s time to register. Because we are offering more classes this season, dancers will be able to register for multiple classes. A single class is $30.00. Every additional class will be $20.00 each. We will also be offering sibling discounts, & of course FREE dance to those who refer a friend! We have also spaced our classes out so that our waiting rooms/parking will not be overly crowded!:)
Intermediate Classes-For those of you who have been with Tip Tap Toes since we opened our Meridian Studio a year ago, we are happy to offer a beginning/intermediate class for your dancer. This class will focus on learning and perfecting the proper moves and technique of each style of dance, at a more accelerated rate. We are hoping that by separating our students who have been with us for 2 seasons and our incoming beginner students, that your dancer will get the most of their classes with being in an environment with dancers at the same ability level as themselves. If your dancer has been with us for 2 seasons, and you feel they are ready, please register them for our beginning/intermediate classes. *Please remember that this class is for those students at this level only. If you are trying to put siblings or friends together that have not taken dance or are not at this level, this is not the class for you, and our instructors will move students if they feel that the dancer is not suitable for the class.
Combinations Classes- We are now offering both Ballet/Tap, and Ballet Jazz for our younger dancers, this way our dancers are able to choose which style of dance they prefer. Dancers may register for both classes if they enjoy both jazz & tap. (Every second class is a discounted $20.00 month)
Mommy & Me- This class is designed for the dancer that is excited to begin their dance journey, but are not quite ready for the independence of our 2-3 year old class. Dancers will learn the basics of dance, in a fun atmosphere where mom gets to learn too!
New Hip Hop Classes- With the increase of interest in our hip hop program, we are now offering more classes for our dancers. We have broken down the ages so that each class can focus on age appropriate abilities and movements. We are also happy to announce a new TEEN Hip Hop, & Adult Hip Hop classes.
Improvement Class-For our dancers that have been with us for 2 seasons, or have a love for dance and an eagerness to learn, we are now offering a technique and conditioning class for ages 6-10. This class is highly recommended for our intermediate dancers, and will take place following our ballet/jazz intermediate class on Wednesday nights. This class is recommended for our Tuesday 6:00pm ballet/jazz class as well. This class will focus on the proper foot placement/technique/flexibility and stretches that a dancer must learn to further their ability in dance. This class will NOT be a performing class (no recital routine) and we will NOT be charging a registration fee. In addition to your dancers’ regular class, this class will be discounted and will be a $20.00 a month class.
Lyrical/Contemporary Class-Our lyrical classes focus on the interpretation of the lyrics, mood and content of the music. A contemporary modern style is presented and importance placed on control, balance, extension and isolations. A mixture of jazz and ballet technique is emphasized. This class is a MUST for those dancers who would like to persue their love of dance, and take it to the next level.
FREE DANCE- If you refer a friend before September 6th, your dancer will receive their first months tuition FREE! Spread the word and receive free dance! You & your referral MUST let me know ahead of time in order to receive your free month!
How To Register- your dancer for our Fall 2011 Season, please visit tiptaptoesdance.com, click on the registration link on the right hand side and either login to your account or create a login. Dancers will be charged a $50.00 registration fee (This will cover the cost for your dancers’ costume) and tuition is due on the first of the month in September. (We prefer all parents to register for automatic withdrawal for monthly payments. This will make it easier for you and us!)
Dance Begins-Classes will begin September 6th 2011, and will run until December 15th 2011. We will accept new students beginning December-January, but our schedule will remain the same with added classes.
*This season is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to see all your smiling faces again. We will be doing a Christmas Recital again this season and we are looking forward to those holiday costumes and festive music. *

Open Studio!

We are getting closer and closer to our first day of dance! I hope all you dancers are getting super excited, because we sure are here at Tip Tap Toes.
I wanted to give all our new dancers the opportunity to come check out the studio before class begins. We will be doing an open house for the Meridian studio on Saturday August 27th, from 10:00-12:00PM. Anyone who would like to come see the studio, or meet me Miss Kami fill free to stop by anytime between those hours.
We will be doing an open house for the Kuna studio the following week September 2nd from 10:00am-12:00pm. If you are interested in stopping by while we are getting the studio prepared for our upcoming season. Hope everyone is enjoying their last couple of weeks of Summer before school starts!

Dress Code

Dress Code

Dancers are required to wear a leotard and either tights and a skirt, or dance pants or dance shorts to class each week. Colors are your choice:) It’s much easier for your teacher to assess your movement, posture, angles, etc. when you are all dressed alike = she can polish your dance more easily and as a result, you will look better performing as a class!
Dancers are required to have wear the proper shoes for their specific class. (see class descriptions on the registration page) If your dancer is enrolled in a ballet/tap class they will need both ballet and tap shoes.
Ballet/Jazz classes will need either ballet or jazz shoes not both.
Dance shoes can be purchased at any dance store or retail store. I recommend my beginners get their shoes at discounted stores, (Ex-Kids Again, Savers, Etc.) Children grow out of their dance shoes so fast and it’s nice to purchase slightly used cheaper shoes to begin with.
Hip Hop dancers are required to wear clothing they can move in (No Jeans). They are to wear tennis shoes.
Dancers hair is to be pulled back and off the shoulders.
Dancers are to bring a bag for their belongings, and a water bottle to class each week.
Dancers are to come to class with a smile!:)

Dancers will need to register for each season (Fall, Spring, Summer) Each season will require a registration payment of $50.00 due at the time of registration to hold your dancers spot in that particular class. Registration payments are then used towards the purchase of the performance costume. Each season requires a registration payment and a new costume.
Recitals take place at the public school auditoriums. Admission is charged at the door in order to make our recitals fun and exciting with props and backdrops, for both parents and dancers.

My name is Kami Satterlee (Miss Kami) and I am the owner and instructor of Tip Tap Toes Dance!
I have been a dancer since I was three years old, participating in competition dance with Dance Unlimited in Oceanside, California, where we won numerous awards for our dance abilities. I also participated in dance competition with the Dance Dimensions studio in Boise, Idaho. I have been a spirit dancer, cheerleader / song leader in middle school and high school. In college I studied dance at UVU in Provo, Utah. Most recently I was a member of the Boise Burn Hotshots dance team, where I loved having the opportunity to be on a professional dance team. I have been a judge for many cheerleading and dance competitions, and have been involved with choreographing routines for teams as well. I am proud to have opened Tip Tap Toes Dance in 2007, and the new Tip Tap Toes Dance in Meridian this past year 2010. I love to dance!!
Tamra Nefzger
Tamra has been dancing since the age of three. She has training and performing experience in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Tamra started teaching dance at the age of 12 and has been teaching ever since. Tamra was a member of the Idaho Falls High School Tigerettes for three years and was Captain her senior year.
She has received several accolades while competing, for most of her career. She continued her training, performing and competing with the Harvey Neef Mane Line Dancers at Boise State University, for three years. While on the team, she traveled and competed nationally, winning third place one year and national championship twice. She was a member of the Idaho Stallions Dance Team for one season and was a four year member of the Idaho Stampede Spirit Dance Team. She continues to serve as a choreographer for the squad.
Tamra has been teaching and choreographing for many years in Idaho. As an instructor for UDA dance camps, she has traveled all over the Pacific Northwest as a teacher for all ages and all styles of dance. Tamra has experience in all areas of dance: teaching, performing, choreography, judging, and continues her own personal education in any way she can.
This is Tamra’s second year with Tip Tap Toes Dance and she looks forward to helping her students develop a love for dance and a passion for the art.
Christina Shell-Christina Shell is an award-winning dancer and choreographer who has been dancing for most of her life. Trained professionally in jazz, hip hop, ballet and modern, Christina brings a wealth of dance skill to her students at Dance Unlimited. Christina’s experience spans studio, school teams and professional exposure to create a well-rounded portfolio that lends a distinct style to her choreography.
Christina was the Captain of the award-winning Hillcrest Knightline dancer and went on to travel the United States to train and work with amazing choreographers such as Doug Caldwell, Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, and Wade Robsin.
Christina has choreographed for a number of studios and high school teams, as well as solos and duets. Her choreography has won numerous awards at competitions such as Spotlight and Stars Regionals. And in 2007, she choreographed the talent for Miss Meridian.
Christina is currently the Head Coach at both Mt. View and Kuna High schools. She took the Mt. View High School Dance team to its first State Championship in Military in 2008 and plans to continue developing the team’s talents.
When she’s not creating new moves or sharing her passion for dance, Christina enjoys spending time with her family.
Nicole Peebler-Nicole has been dancing since she was only 3 years old. She has taken many classes in various types of dance, but fell in love with hip hop at a young age of 13. She danced for Rigby High School and was Captain her senior year. This was were she discovered her love for choreographing hip hop routines. She then went on to dance for the Harvey Neef Mane Line Dancers for two years. After that she became a member of the Stampede Spirit Dance team. She choreographed many hip hop routines for the Stampede Spirit and they were often performed at the games. Even though she is no longer a member of the Stampede, she still choreographs routines for them each year. She also had the great opportunity of recently choreographing a competition hip hop routine for the Capital High Golden Girls. Dancing is a very big passion in Nicole’s life and she loves sharing that passion through teaching and choreographing.

Morgan QuickMorgan has danced ever since she was a young girl, She loved leaping around
her house ever since she could stand on two feet. She started dancing at Dance unlimited Studio. She trained in Ballet, Jazz, Hip hop, and various other styles. She dance on the competitive dance teams for Dance Unlimited for four years.She then started dancing for her high school drill team. The Millenium dance team at Mountain View High School. She danced for Christina Shell for three years on this team. Her Junior Year she was the captain on the dance team. She competed in various solo competitions as well. She proudly took home many first and seconds. Senior year her and her team took grand champs in the District Competition and also the State title for the year. They then went on to place a national title as well. Morgan knows’ how to work hard and push herself and those around her to do better as well. Morgan is now attending Boise State University and wants to minor in dance

Ballet

Our Instructors teach a traditional Ballet class that starts with the barre, moves to center floor, adagio and across the floor combinations. Classes focus on proper technique, placement, balance, flexibility and presentation.

Jazz

Standard jazz technique is emphasized including extensions, elevations, control and turns. A warm up is always conducted at the beginning of each class. Across the floor technique, center floor combinations and jazz routines are incorporated into each class.

Tap

Precise tap rhythms, technique and combinations are included in our Tip Tap Toes program.

Combo Classes

Tip Tap Toes offers combination classes to the young dancer, age 2 – 7 yrs old. Tap and Ballet or Tap and Jazz are combined to create a wonderful introduction into the basic technique of these dance disciplines.

Hip Hop

Our Hip Hop classes feature a street style form of jazz and funk. Popping, locking and break dancing are incorporated into this hip-hop style.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Our lyrical classes focus on the interpretation of the lyrics, mood and content of the music. A contemporary modern style is presented and importance placed on control, balance, extension and isolations. A mixture of jazz and ballet technique is emphasized.

Tuition/Payments

Tuition
Tuition is due on the first of every month. There is a grace period of 5 days. If tuition is not paid after those 5 days a late charge will be added to your payment. If the payment continues to not be paid, this will result in dismissal from the class with no refund.
Payments
Tuition is $30.00 a month, with the exception of a sibling discount, referal, or additional classes.(Please see the registration page for more information)
Payments are to be made on-line, with the exception of individuals without internet access. These payments can be made in an envelope on the first of the month.

Registration Payment- There is a registration payment of $50.00 for each students enrolled and for each class. This payment will be used to pay your costume for our recital, and will secure your spot in that class.
